At SummerSlam 1997, It was The Undertaker Vs. Bret Hart for the WWF World Heavyweight Championship match [with Shawn Michaels as the special guest referee]. Bret defeated The Undertaker to become the new WWF World Heavyweight Champion.

Bret Hart joined WWE’s The Bump to explain match against The Undertaker. Bret Hart kicked off saying, "I loved all of it was you know, I will say this match that it wouldn't have been the great match without Shawn Michaels. He was a big part of this match the way he refereed just his personality the way he no matter what because he was that he had to you know, he would some there was some condition that if he didn't referee straight down the middle that he would never wrestle again.

It was I love the concept and that all the things that we're going on there like they were built into the mash and especially love the working with Undertaker. He was at that time. We had a few matches in our career and so we have we were kind of condition to each other styles a little bit, but for sure that SummerSlam match was was the best match we ever had and I love that match. I love the timing of it.

You know, there's a certain timing that you can't, you know, you can but it's really hard to have that perfect timing and when I Spit on Shawn's face and he swings that chair and gets Undertaker the timing of that is so incredible and so hard to like when you talk about these things in the plan them out and how natural it was in me telling Shawn turned out of getting mad and then spit on him and then him get so mad that he swings the chair. It was as Geniuses wrestling can get it was such a great one of my favorite matches. I put it in match stop five for sure and I want to love watching it back.

There are so many little is funny interesting little things that are special about the match. There's one time where I was running into the ropes and running and I suppose I thought I was running past Undertaker, but I guess he thought I wasn't he just snatched me out of thin air by the throat. Just how we work together. There was a certain understanding that you had to understand about The undertaker and what he did his style worked and the pace that he worked and at the same time what he needed, I remember he said he needed to work with me to have they wanted to show everyone that he can really wrestle that he wasn't just, you know, got a good wrestle Giant.

He wanted to show that. he could really dance when he wanted to and I think that was one of my favorite dances. I ever had. I love that much fun to go back and relive that match and like I said Shawn was just incredible always true that his timing with the chair and the way he refereed through the whole match was so good. It's that's what I love about working with Undertaker's he was a serious and dedicated professional I ever worked with."
