Lord Krishna

Shri Krishna is the God in Hindu religion. He is considered to be the 8th incarnation of Vishnu.

He is also known by names like Kanhaiya, Shyam, Gopal, Keshav, Dwarkesh or Dwarkadhish, Vasudev etc.

Krishna was a selfless karma yogi, an ideal philosopher, a wise man and a great man with divine resources.

He was born in Dwapara Yuga. He has been ranked as the best man, Yug Purush or Yugavatar of this era.

The character of Krishna has been written in detail in Shrimad Bhagavatam and Mahabharata, composed by Maharishi Vedavyasa, a contemporary of Krishna.

The Bhagavad Gita is a dialogue between Krishna and Arjuna, which is still popular all over the world. For this preaching, Krishna is also given the respect of Jagatguru.

Krishna was the 8th child of Vasudev and Devaki. Devaki was the sister of Kansa. Kansa was a tyrannical king. He had heard from Akashvani that he would be killed by the eighth son of Devaki.

To avoid this, Kansa put Devaki and Vasudeva in the jail of Mathura. He was born in the jail of Mathura on the Ashtami of Krishna Paksha of Bhado month.

Fearing Kansa, Vasudev took the newborn child across the Yamuna at night to Yashoda's place in Gokul. He was brought up in Gokul. Yashoda and Nand were his foster parents.

In his childhood, he did great things which were not possible for any common man. Shortly after his birth, he killed the demonic Putana sent by Kansa, followed by Shaktasura, Trinavarta etc.

Later he left Gokul and came to Nand village, there he also performed many pastimes, in which Gocharan Leela, Govardhan Leela, Ras Leela etc. are the main ones.

After this, Mamalkansala was killed in Mathura. Established the city of Dwarka in Saurashtra and established his kingdom there.

Helped the Pandavas and protected them from various troubles. In the war of Mahabharata, he played the role of Arjun's charioteer and preached to him on the battlefield itself.

He finished his Leela after a lifetime of 124 years.

Immediately after the end of his incarnation comes the period of Parikshit's kingdom. Kaliyuga is believed to have started from the time of King Parikshit, who was the son of Abhimanyu and Uttara and grandson of Arjuna.
