In all the provinces (provinces) of Nepal, it is celebrated with different names and different customs with devotion and enthusiasm.

On the day of Makar Sankranti (Sankranti), farmers thank God for their good harvest and seek blessings to keep their compassion on people forever. Hence the festival of Makar Sankranti (Sankranti) is also known as the festival of crops and farmers.

In Nepal, Makar Sankranti (Sankranti) is called Maghe-Sankranti (Maghe-Sankranti), Suryottarayan and 'Maghi' in the Tharu community.

On this day the Government of Nepal gives a public holiday. This is the most important festival of Tharu community. The rest of the communities of Nepal also do charity by bathing in the shrine and celebrate with pomp by eating sesame, ghee, sugar and tuber.

They go to the confluence of rivers to take bath in lakhs. Rurudham (Devghat) and Triveni Mela are the most famous among the pilgrimage sites.
