Significance of Makar Sankranti

Religious activities like chanting, penance, charity, bathing, shraddha, tarpan etc. have special significance on this day.

There is a belief that the donation given on this occasion increases by a hundred times and is reaped. Donation of pure ghee and blanket on this day leads to attainment of salvation.

On the occasion of Makar Sankranti, bathing in the Ganges and donating on the banks of the Ganges is considered very auspicious. On this festival, bathing in Tirtharaj, Prayag and Gangasagar has been given the name of Mahasnana.

Generally, the Sun affects all the zodiac signs, but the entry of Sun in Cancer and Capricorn is very fruitful from the religious point of view.

This entry or transition process takes place at an interval of six months. India is located in the country 'Northern Hemisphere'.

Generally, all the dates of the Indian calendar system are determined on the basis of the motion of the moon, but Makar Sankranti is determined by the speed of the sun. Our holy Vedas, Bhagwat Geeta ji and the constitution of Purna Parmatma says that if we take initiation from a Purna Saint and do devotion to the one Supreme God, then he will make this earth heaven and fulfill your wish.
