UFC 249 Supposed To Take Place At Vystar Veterans Memorial Arena
UFC 249 is heading to a new location. This will mark the third change in UFC 249 schedule as it has gone through the cancellation twice.

The location and venue of the card have been sofar under the lid but it was reported Thursday that UFC 249 will take place at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Fla. A person with ties to UFC 249 told MMA Junkie that his flight to Jacksonville has been purchased for fight week.

On April 21, it was validated that the original UFC 250 event (expected to take place in São Paulo, Brazil) on May 9, now will be renamed UFC 249 and mark the promotion's return after the first wave of cancellations. It is expected to take place somewhere in Florida.

UFC 249 was earlier supposed take place on Sat, Apr 18, 2020, at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, went through a new location calculation due to Coronavirus Pandemic. On March 16, UFC president Dana White announced that UFC 249 is still scheduled as planned, but the location may change. Dana White even noted that he would schedule the event behind the door. In the main event, Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Tony Ferguson was planned to take place but on March 30 Khabib Nurmagomedov slated that he was in Dagestan and could be ventured by travel bans related to the pandemic.

Khabib Nurmagomedov stated on April 1 that he would unlike be competing at the event due to those restrictions which forced him to stay home. Now he has officially pulled out of the event. Justin Gaethje has taken the replacement.

On April 9, White announced that this event would not take place as scheduled and all other UFC events would be suspended until further notice, indicating invasions from the high-ranking staff of the UFC's U.S. media rightsholders, ESPN Inc. and parent The Walt Disney Company. It was later revealed that the 40th Governor of California, Gavin Newsom, influenced the decision of cancelling the event.
