UFC 251 Competitor Gilbert Burns Tested Positive For COVID-19, Gilbert Burns Pulls Out
The UFC 251 main event has been thwarted by the coronavirus, as Gilbert Burns has tested positive for COVID-19 which out of his bout with welterweight champion Kamaru Usman.

The report was first uncovered by MMA Junkie on Friday night that Burns (18-3 MMA, 12-3 UFC) has been pulled from his fight with Usman (16-1 MMA, 11-0 UFC), which takes place next week in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi.

So far there is no official statement from UFC on whether they would like to push the fight date to another date or new opponent takes place against Usman

Accoring to the latest report from MMA Junkie Burns traveled from Florida, where he trained for UFC 251, to Las Vegas. The promotion is testing them for COVID-19 before flying out to the Middle East. Burns’ was found positive, along with his brother and cornerman, Herbert Burns, and coach Greg Jones.

UFC 251: Usman vs. Burns is an upcoming mixed martial arts event that will take place on July 12, 2020, at the UFC Fight Island facility on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Originally, the event was scheduled to place on June 6 at Perth Arena in Perth, Australia. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event was ultimately postponed on April 9.

There are still two Title bout on the line. Featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski will take on Max Holloway in a rematch of their 2019 bout in the co-main event. Petr Yan and former 145-pound king Jose Aldo will bout for the vacant bantamweight title.
