WWE Hell in a Cell 2020, a WWE Network event produced by WWE for their Raw and SmackDown brand divisions and the 12th annual event developed under the Hell in a Cell chronology. It is annually propagated by WWE which scheduled to take place on October 25, 2020, at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida. Earlier The event was originally scheduled to drive our attention on November 1, 2020, but WWE's contract with the Amway Center expired on October 31.

At SummerSlam 2020, Drew McIntyre defeated Randy Orton to retain the WWE Championship. On the August 31 episode of Raw, Orton defeated Seth Rollins and Keith Lee in a triple threat match and earned a rematch for the WWE Championship at Clash of Champions, where McIntyre again defeated him in an ambulance match and retained the title with the help of Big Show, Christian, Shawn Michaels, and Ric Flair.

On the following Raw, McIntyre celebrated with the legends, Orton attacked all of the legends backstage in their private lounge. The following week, Orton challenged McIntyre to a Hell in a Cell Match for the WWE Championship, which McIntyre accepted.

On the September 4 episode of Smackdown, Jey Uso defeated Baron Corbin, Sheamus, and Matt Riddle in a Fatal 4-way match and become the #1 contender for the Universal Championship match against Roman Reigns at Clash Of Champions 2020. Jey Uso vs. Roman Reigns was officially confirmed for Clash of Champions 2020.

At Clash of Champions 2020, Roman Reigns defeated Jey Uso to retain the Universal Championship. On the following SmackDown, during a talk show between them, Reigns gave Jey another title match at Hell in a Cell that Jey accepted. The match was confirmed as a Hell in a Cell match the next day on October 3. In the following week, the match was officially confirmed as the "I Quit" Hell In A Cell match.

On the October 2 episode of SmackDown, Sasha Banks challenged Bayley for the SmackDown Women's Championship match on the following week's episode. Banks defeated Bayley via disqualification after Bayley attacked her with a steel chair. In a backstage segment, Banks challenged Bayley to another championship match at Hell in a Cell inside the steel cage, which was officially confirmed the next day.
